Letter to Xiao Zhuang

My darling Xiao Zhuang,

I am blessed to hear you saying “I love you, daddy!” I can sense you wanting to have me keeping you company, while you play, sing or simply staying around. I would like to very much, as much as I can because I know in a while’s time, you will not want your daddy’s company anymore.

I have chided you yesterday for not letting me rest for a while. I am sorry. I could have responded to your intention, rather than your behaviour. I will learn to be more attuned to your intentions.

I am grateful for the heaven and earth, for they are my role models for being all-loving and all-forbearance, without bias or judgment regardless of what acts committed by anyone.

When you were asked to share the birthday gift that Xuan Yu had given you, since you already have similar ones, mommy and I were very glad to hear that you are willing to do so. This is one small but important step that you have taken, and we are extremely proud of you.

And for that, I want to acknowledge that we have done something good to help you build a good character.

SUCCESS
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Always loving you,

Daddy
